Alitalia customer relations in action

Would you believe that someone took their time to do this?
Indeed and we thank them.

PS. Unfortunately the PR machine behind Alitalia pulled this video down from YouTube. Good job guys but hey, we will keep posting until your company takes responsibility for its actions or shuts down.

I totally agree -- Alitalia is the worst airline I've ever flown. They truly suck in every category. They lost one of our suitcases, and it has been hell trying to get anything done, never mind getting compensated. We've basically just given up in frustration -- I'm sure that's their intent -- provide horrible to non-existent customer service so that we will all give up, thus saving Alitalia a bundle of money in the process.

I'm telling everyone I know not to fly Alitalia.

Alitalia is horrible! My luggage is still "missing" after three weeks with no information about its whereabouts. I filed an irregularity report, tracked it daily on-line, sent a customer complaint and finally filed an official claim against Alitalia and no one has had the decency to reply. I have not heard from anyone representing Alitalia. In fact it is impossible to speak to a live person. All their calls take you to a recorded outgoing message. It is horribly frustrating. I finally went back to the airoport of my destination to find an Alitalia emoployee and still no answers and no care. I travelled from Naples Italy to a connecting flight in Milan. My final destination was Chicago. My property never arrived. Alitalia is famous for "losing" luggage and no disciplinary action toward baggage handlers takes place, no investigating and no follow up. Alitalia makes you wait 90 days before they consider a luggage lost. By then they are hoping that you are frustrated and just give up.. They don't want to take resposibility nor do they want to compensate you for your missing property that they failed to transport. This has been very stressful. Alitalia needs to start practicing customer service and liability. They don't care. But I do and I will not stop until get my luggaage or get compensated. Some of my missing items are priceless. Alitalia does not care. I am angry that we chose to fly with Alitalia knowing their horrendous reputaion and their notariaty for "losing" luggage.. Myself and my entire extended family will boycott Alitalia . We are frequent flyers and we are many, so they will lose plenty of business. Alitalia has failed. It is a disappointment to many of us Italians. It is very embarrssing that this is Italy's airline. They are a disgrace.

Alitalia has to be the worst, customer-unfriendly, rudest, laziest employee airline in the market today. My European flight was absolutely horrid. I will never fly this airline again until their new owners clean up shop in this airline.

hey i travel with this airline alitalia to come to israel my sis ter and i were stranded in rome from 8am to 11pm plust the flight was delayed.we got no food voucher or any form of consolation when my sister asked for a glass of water the flight attendant told her no they discriminated against us because of our skin colour they served everyone on the plane except us and we paid our money had i known that when i was leaving the caribbean i would not have traveld with this carrier. the human rights act ensures that persons regardless of their skin pigmentation must be treated like a human i see they have not been trained to act as such

I've just lost a bag with Alitalia and I can't get hold of anybody to help. I've just wasted a day in Cairo driving to the airport by taxi (100 L.E.)to be told the bag has not turned up and they don't know when it will arrive. Do they not have computer systems in place that can track the luggage. The numbers I was given by Alitalia staff upon arrival in Cairo (from Rome) do not work. I tried contacting the Italy office but one guy put the phone down on me and the other didn't speak English. The lost and found number they gave me doesn't work. I feel so helpless and I'm due to leave Cairo tomorrow with no sign of my bag. Needless to say; I have a lot of valuable in my bag that will take considerable time and money to replace.

Was going on an MSC cruise that left from Barcelona on Sept 19,2008. The cruise company,Luxury Cruise Center, Miami Fl. organized both the cruise and the flights to and from Barcelona. At the time ,all the news was about Alitalia going bust so we were in constant contact with the Cruise Center asking for a different airline. The night before we flew the cruise rep. Janet Castillo called us and told us that all was fine. We flew to Chicago and when boarding the aircraft for the flight to Rome we were handed a voucher to switch planes in Rome from italia to Iberia. We were told it was a better flight. When we got to Rome we handed the voucher to the Iberia airlines gate rep. They just laughed and said "Why would we take that, Alitalia is broke. We would never get our money". The reason we were given the voucher was that Italia had canceled the flight to Barcelona but our cruise company didn't tell us this.
To make a long story longer, we had to pay our own way to Barcelona, missed the ship, stayed overnight there, payed to fly to Brussels and then back to Marseilles to catch the ship there.
As of now, we cannot contact the person in the cruise company that got us into this mess and of course Alitalia Customer Service is an oxymoron. I was on hold for an hour today,Feb.19,2009 and I will try again tomorrow.
I will never fly Alitalia again and please do not do business with the Luxury Cruise Center,Inc. out of Miami.

Alitalia is the absolute worst airlines I have ever, ever used. Most people say try another...sometimes you can't it is part of skyteam and with the flights you want you have to use them. However, I will try to reroute my flights and use other airlines. I am so tired of my CONFIRMED flights being changed. The rude people that work for alitalia and absolutely NO idea what CS stands for! They ast as if they are doing you a favor. Lost luggage, horrible and dirty seats and bathrooms. They are so rude when you call them if you are lucky enough to actually have the time to sit wait for 30 minutes or more and get them. Then they hung up on you. Yet, we are paying their wages and they think they are kind of the airline. Arrogent, rude, condesending and all of the other negative adjectives available would describe this airlines. Never, never again.
This airline needs to go further under and people need to repost youtube videos or anything that lets people know that we are not paying for a service to be treated like this, let alone be paying their salaries. Berlusconi's friend bought the shares of alitalia-hence airone says look at theeir site, the site says it is under construction since January. Use every mode possiable to let people know this can not be taken lighty, post it on ripoff report for being ripoff for paying for a service and no cameras in the luggage where all the theives steal you belongings. Give me a break alitalia and get with the program. It is called Karma and those that deal, will have to make a deal come judgement day. Ah... I feel better.

After months of waiting, phone calls, faxes and certified mail I finally got some compensation for my lost property. Not nearly the value of my missing luggage and its contents, however they did cut me a check. The key is to keep on it, follow the procedure for filing a claim and be persistant. I just recently heard from a relative in Italy that there was an auction in Milan for uclaimed luggage. Go figure. I was very upset to say the least, but not surprised.

Alitalia is the worst airline I have ever dealt with in my thirty plus years of travel. Our flight was delayed and we missed our connector flight, but no one bothered to inform us for over an hour. The employees chatted calmly and couldn't be bothered. They lost my luggage (I did get it back the next day after I located someone in the Lost Luggage Department who was not out to lunch.). They bumped my mother-in-law, causing her to miss her plane to the U.S. We waited over an hour for our luggage on the way home. The employees were lazy, rude, and incompetent. I will never fly with this airline again.

Reading through this blog it's amazing how consistently similar the stories are to our own terrible experience with Alitalia. On our 2-week trip to Italy last month, my sister's luggage didn't get delivered until 10:00PM the last night of the tour, and then only because our tour director stepped in and got his company to help wrest it away from Alitalia. We spent at least an hour of our limited free time every day on the phone with Alitalia's so-called "customer service" where they repeatedly put us on hold, hung up on us, claimed they didn't speak English (even though we had selected the "English" option) and lied to us! Every day they told us a different story about how they had sent our luggage with this courrier or that courrier or to this airport or that airport and we'd "have it tomorrow." In the end, we found out that her luggage had arrived in Rome the same day we had and sat there the entire time. The airline had never sent it anywhere; they were just stringing us along to pacify us. Obviously, they don't care a whit about their reputation. If our tour director had not stepped in, I'm sure my sister would still not have her luggage today. I agree with Antonella, Alitalia is a disgrace. I recommend reporting your experiences to the Department of Transportation's Aviation Consumer Protection Divsion by emailing AirConsumer@dot.gov. This is a watchdog organization that deals with airline service complaints. We sent this organization an email and we got an email back from Alitalia the same day asking us to file a claim form for our expenses. Report them! They deserve it.
